“Essential Ingredients for a Sustainable Future – Why do we need independent institutions, and how should they work for the long term?” 28th to 29th April 2015 in Cardiff, Wales
This conference will consider how institutions dedicated to safeguard the future can drive change, incorporating the long-term to build more peaceful and resilient societies, today and tomorrow. Expertise coming from existing institutions around the world will be complemented with the backdrop of landmark legislation in Wales, the Well-being of Future Generations Bill. Speakers include Prof Edith Brown Weiss, Professor of International Law, Georgetown University Law Centre, Nikhil Seth, Director of the Division for Sustainable Development, UNDESA (Department of Economic and Social Affairs), Tara Shine, Head of Research and Development at the Mary Robinson Foundation for Climate Justice MRFCJ, Farooq Ullah, Executive Director of Stakeholder Forum, Julie Gelfand, Commissioner of Environment and Sustainable Development, Canada and Robert Neil, Commissioner for Sustainability and the Environment, ACT, Australia.
